Wye Wicks
Product Guide
Botanical wax melts are a lovely way to gently fragrance your space, and a little goes a long way.
Follow these simple care tips to enjoy your melts safely, get the best from their fragrance and create those little moments of calm, comfort or uplift.
01.
First things first

Remove a wax melt from its packaging and place it in the well of a burner designed specifically for use with wax melts.

Using the correct burner helps prevent the wax from becoming excessively hot and reduces the risk of damage to the burner.

We recommend using a wax burner that is at least 10cm tall, with a gap of at least 7cm between the tealight and the wax well.

02.
Take it easy on the heat

Gently warming your wax helps release its fragrance without overheating the wax. We recommend using an unscented tealight with a burn time of no more than two hours.

Long-burning tea lights can create more heat, which may cause the wax or burner to become excessively hot. Never use more than one tealight at a time, unless your burner has been specifically designed for this.
03.
Choose the right spot

Place your wax burner on a flat, stable and heat-resistant surface in a well-ventilated room, somwhere it cannot be knocked over.

Keep it well away from children, pets and anything that could catch fire, such as curtains, paper or soft furnishings.
As heat rises, avoid placing your buner underneath shelves, cupboards or in other enclosed spaces.
04.
Keep it clear

Keep your burner away from open windows, vents and drafts.
Moving air can cause the tealight flame to flicker or become unstable, which may lead to uneven heating or excess heat.

05.
No nightlights please

Wax melt burners are designed to fragrance your home while you are there to enjoy them.
They should never be used as a nightlight or lefting burning while you sleep.
06.
Always extinguish before bed

Never leave a lit tealight unattended. Always extinguish it before leaving the room or going to bed and allow the burner and wax to cool completely.

If you'd like a little fragrance as part of your bedtime routine, an aromatherapy room mist is a lovely flame-free alternative.
07.
Give it time to rest

Allow your wax melt burner to cool completely before handling, cleaning or using it again.
Never move the burner while the tealight is lit or the wax is molten.
We recommend leaving it for at least two hours between uses.

08.
Time to say goodbye

Once the fragrance has faded, allow the wax and burner to cool completely before removing the used wax and replacing it with a fresh melt.
Our botanical wax melts can fragrance your space for up to six hours, depending on the blend, burner and room conditions.
09.
Easy clean up

Once completely cool, the wax can usually be removed gently from the burner well. If you use the freezer method, allow the burner to cool fully first and only use this method if it is suitable for the material your burner is made from.
Never place a warm burner directly into the freezer, as sudden temperature changes may cause it to crack.
Always allow the burner to return to room temperature fully before using it again.
10.
Store with care

Keep your botanical wax melts somewhere cool and dry, and away from direct sunlight or sources of heat.
Keeping them in their original packaging helps protect them from dust and preserve their fragrance until you're ready to use them.
Once finished, the packaging can be recycled where local facilities allow.

11.
Take care not to overfill

Use only enough wax to sit comfortably within the well of your burner, leaving plenty of space for it to melt safely.
Never add water, fragrance oil or essential oil directly to the wax melt or burner well. Use the wax melts as supplied.
12.
Check the burner reguarly

A damaged burner may cause hot wax to leak.
Always check your burner for damage prior to use and do not use a wax burner that is cracked, chipped or damaged.
Soy wax - naturally different
We make our botanical wax melts using sustainably sourced soy wax, carefully selected by our supplier from trusted European producers. Our wax is plant-based, biodegradable, palm oil-free, and contains no added colourings.

We choose soy wax as it works beautifully with our essential oil blends and, when properly cared for, provides a slow, even burn that helps you enjoy your candle for longer.

You may occasionally notice a little frosting on the surface of your melts. This is a completely normal characteristic of soy wax, caused by tiny crystals forming as the wax naturally changes over time. It won't effect the fragrance or performance of your candle.
Handmade with care
Our botanical wax melts are fragranced using carefully selected essential oils, chosen for both their beautiful aromas and the qualities they can bring to a space.

Cheryl, our founder and aromatherapist, has a long-standing interest in the way scent can influence how we feel. Essential oils are extracted from aromatic plants, flowers, leaves, woods, roots, resins and fruits, and we use them thoughtfully to create fragrances designed to complement moments of calm, comfort, focus or uplift.

Wye Wicks began after our daughter experienced severe allergic reactions while we were using conventional fragranced candles at home. It prompted us to look more closely at the ingredients in the products we were burning and ultimately led us towards creating our own range using natural waxes and essential oils.

We deliberately keep our formulations simple and avoid synthetic fragrance oils, artificial colourings, preservatives and unnecessary additives. For us, knowing what goes into the products we use in our own home matters just as much as how they smell.
Essential oils
Although the essential oils in our finished products are diluted appropriately for their intended use, naturally occurring fragrance allergens can still cause sensitivity in some people and animals. We recommend checking the ingredients and suitability of a product before use and, if you have any concerns, seeking appropriate medical or veterinary advice.
