Trim the wick to 0.5cm before each use. Long or crooked wicks can cause uneven burning, dripping and tunnelling. A long wick will also create a large flame. Always trim the wick prior to use.
Children and Pets
Always keep burning candles away from children and pets.
Never use a candle as a nightlight. Candles should always be extinguished safely before going to sleep.
Always keep the wax pool free of debris such as trimmings or matches at all times.
Drafts, vents, ceiling fans and air currents may cause rapid and uneven burning or cause nearby items to be blown into the flame. Drafts can also cause flame flare ups and sooting.
Always dispose of candles responsibly. Our glass containers have been carefully chosen as they are recyclable and can be refilled and reused. Call us to discuss refill options.
When using your candle for the first time ensure its burnt for 2-3 hours. This will help establish a wax pool that reaches the edges of the container and will prevent tunnelling.
Never burn a candle near anything that could catch fire such as curtains, furniture, bedding, carpets, books, paper or flammable decorations.
Extinguish a candle if it repeatedly smokes, flickers or the flame becomes too high. If a candle isn't burning properly, cool it and trim the wick. Check for any drafts before relighting.
Make sure your candle is on a stable, heat resistant surface. This helps prevent heat damage to underlying surfaces and prevent glass containers from breaking.
Always burn candles in a well ventilated room. Don't burn too many candles in a small room or environment where air exchange is limited.
Never extinguish with water. Water can cause hot wax to splatter and may cause the container to break.
Keep in Sight
Never leave a lit candle unattended and always keep a lit candle in sight. Ensure all candles are extinguished before leaving a room or going to sleep.
Never touch a burning candle or the container when wax is liquid.
We use pure essential oils in our candles. Although they are highly diluted some animals and pets may be sensitive. Always check suitability prior to purchase. In the event of a reaction, extinguish and seek medical help.
Take care to make sure the wick ember is no longer glowing. We recommend using a candle snuffer as this prevents hot wax from splatter.
Never use a knife or sharp object to remove wax drippings from a glass container. It might scratch, weaken or cause the glass to break on later use.
We use natural soy wax and pure essential oils in our candles. We don't use additives, preservatives or colourings. All of the ingredients you will see listed occur in essential oils.
We want you to enjoy your Wye Wicks candle safely.
