The idea for our Alfresco Candle and Wax Melts came about after spending a summer in the southwest of France where Simon unwittingly became an all-you-can-eat buffet! After a couple of weeks, even the pharmacist felt sorry for him, so Cheryl created our Alfresco collection using a special blend of essential oils all renowned for their bug-busting properties in an attempt to keep the biting beasties at bay. The blend proved to be so successful, that after testing with friends and family, we added it to our range as a limited edition! Launched at Hergest Croft Garden's Annual Spring Fair the collection sold out in a few hours and demand has been so high it’s now a permanent addition to our range.
Citronella (Cymbopogon Nardus) Essential Oil
With refreshing citrus notes and a distinctive grassy aroma, pure citronella oil is most famous as a mosquito repellent and can be incredibly effective at keeping pests away from your home. It also uplifts the body and reduces anxiety and stress.
Eucalyptus (Eucalyptus Globulus) Essential Oil
Known for its powerful, purifying scent, eucalyptus essential oil is often used to support the respiratory system but as it contains citronellal, a compound with a refreshing lemon-like scent, it is also a powerful bug deterrent.
Lemongrass (Cymbopogon Citatus) Essential Oil
Highly antibacterial, pure lemongrass oil has powerful cleansing properties. It is also a calming oil that offers a sense of relief when managing negative emotions and stress. With a high geraniol and citral content Lemongrass has long been used to repel bugs.
Rose Geranium (Pelargonium Roseum) Essential Oil
Rose geranium oil is a gentle, floral oil that is known for its calming effects. Rose geranium’s anti-inflammatory properties also help it to soothe joint pain and protect our overall health. Rose Geranium contains citronellol and geraniol which have a floral aroma that acts as an effective bug deterrent.
Thyme (Thymus Vulgaris) Essential Oil
Thyme essential oil has healing properties that have been revered by many civilisations over the years, and it is still used today to protect health and prevent illness. It has strong antibacterial and antioxidant properties, allowing it to fight infections and toxins in the body, and is deeply cleansing. Thyme oil is said to have a balancing effect on hormones, regulating mood and even helping to relieve symptoms of menopause. Thyme essential oil is a natural insect repellent with its own distinctive qualities. It contains compounds such as linalool, which emit a fresh and herbaceous aroma that repels bugs effectively.
The oils are hand-blended in our studio before being added to sustainably sourced soy wax and infused, then hand-poured in small batches to ensure quality. Topped with dried eucalyptus leaves and lemongrass, and presented in a kraft presentation box, the essential oils will gently scent your space and give you a well- being boost for up to 4 - 6 hours.
Alfresco - Botanical Wax Melts
Our wax melts are made from sustainably sourced soy wax from Europe. It does not contain any palm oils and does not contribute to deforestation.
We don't use any additives in our products so no colourings, preservatives, stabilisers, or scent enhancers - this means all of the ingredients you will see on our labels naturally occur in the essential oils used.
As we use natural Soy wax you may see some frosting, this is normal for soy wax and does not affect the scent or burn.
